November Stats & Updates

Ooohhh boy, have I been busy.  Not reading, as my stats will clearly show you, but BUSY.  We DID move, and I cannot even express how stressful and anxiety-filled that was.  But it is done, and I’m typing this from my new room in my new house in a new state.  It’s crazy..  Today is the kids’ first day at their new schools and I can’t wait until they come home to tell me all about it!

In other news, we are getting very close to announcing the Top Five Honor Books for the Morris Award.   The official press release will be out December 11th I think….  and then we’ll pick the winner in Seattle at ALA Midwinter!  I am really pleased with the final list, and believe me when I tell you that it was very difficult to narrow the list down to only five books.  So now while I do plan on re-reading those books again, I can now start to pick up anything to read.. and then even talk about it here!  So while it may take me a bit to “warm up”, you can expect this blog to come alive again!

So now, how about those dismal November stats?

  • Total books read:  4
  • Total books read in 2018:  84
  • Total pages read:  1,065
  • Diversity:
    • Female authors: 3
    • POC:  2
    • LGBTQIA+:  0
    • Graphic Novels:  2

So, not very impressive.  But I don’t really care….  I’m too busy unpacking and too tired to turn a page!  That will all get a little better though and soon.  Also – I need to start thinking about reading challenges for next year!  If you’ve found any good ones, please let me know.  I’m for sure going to do a #readmyowndamnbooks challenge for myself…  but need some others to spice it up a bit.

  1. You did great this month! Hope your kids like their new school. 🙂 I’m thinking about reading challenges for next year and now sure if I’ll venture past the usual Goodreads challenge. I’m still keeping my eye out for some fun ones!

  2. Congrats on the move and the almost completion of the finalist list! We moved in March of this year in the middle of a nor’easter with parking bans and a lost deed, so hopefully yours was less stressful!
