Amber’s life is completely out of her control right now. It is even out of her parent’s control…. the judge has made the decision, and now the time has come. But the day before everything she recognizes as her life is changed, gone – Amber takes a personal day. A day just for herself. A day at the beach where she can concentrate on just enjoying everything. It isn’t too long before she meets Cade… a great looking guy that almost immediately seems to get her, and who also seems to be making the most of his day. Alone. They agree – no pasts, no questions – just the here and now. Amber sees something in Cade though – and it is making her nervous. Is she helping him through his day? Is he helping her? And what comes tomorrow?
I didn’t expect the beautiful prose that makes up this book. It is poetic and lyrical…. simple and completely loaded with meaning. It has been a little while since I’ve read a book in a day, and I think I tore through this in just a few hours. I always wonder if that is a compliment or an insult to the author… but the truth is – I simply couldn’t put it down and I mean that as a huge compliment!
I really liked Amber… she is going through some complicated issues, and I love that she took a time-out for herself. I think that so many of us forget to do that sometimes – to just take a step back, remember to laugh and enjoy life a little, and then think through what ever is going on from a fresh angle. The ending was a little quick for me, but it makes sense…. My issue is more that I wanted to see even further down the road, just to be sure of what I think is going to happen really does. This was my first book by this author, but it will not be my last.
