The rest of this book’s title is “*A Low Culture Manifesto (Now With a New Middle)”. It is a series of essays regarding the state of pop culture… or at least pop culture from 2003/2004 when this was first published. It is amazingly insightful, humorous and sarcastic… well written and academic. I like it, but I don’t love it. I wonder if I would have been more excited about it had I discovered it 5 years ago, instead of now. Because now, I’ve only gotten half way through it, and I’m done. I’m writing this instead of reading more. I get where its going, I like it, but I’m bored. I’m not hooked. I like to be hooked by what I’m reading. I want to read this and yell “YES!” and get excited, but it just isn’t like that. I don’t disagree with his commentary, but, eh… now I’m bored writing this. Sorry Chuck. I’ll pass your book along, as (according to Swaptree), it is still in demand.
